The year 1995 was the beginning of what is known today as the Blackstairs Blues Festival. The source of the inspiration was Bob Rackard’s Pub & Restaurant in Rafter Street where a small group of blues aficionados met and decided to launch a festival of blues music. It is now in its nineteenth year and has survived the vicissitudes of the age, the fluctuations of musical tastes and fashion trends to reach a creative permanence in the town of Enniscorthy and the south east.
Some 106 Bands have played at the Festival, some more than once. Enniscorthy is a very suitable venue for the Festival; it is a gem of an Irish town situated on the Banks of the Slaney in the centre of the Model County.
Location:
Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.
