Hallow’s Eve – also known as the Gaelic festival “Samhain” a celtic harvest festival marking the end of summer and the start of winter. It marks the return of herds from the pasture, which in pagan imagination was equated with the return of the dead. Some people believe trick-or-treat evolved from presenting food and drink to the wandering spirits. Celts believed that the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred.
