The modern Smithfield Market replaces the old Victorian market which was destroyed by fire in 1974. Smithfield is situated opposite Castle Court shopping complex with links to the main city centre shopping areas of Royal Avenue and Donegall Place. The mall houses 28 shop units with retailers selling anything from comics to camping equipment, and electrical goods to collectable model soldiers. Market takes place Monday – Saturday from 9am – 5pm.
