A look back at our history

An increase in the number of ponies and Ladies’ Day at the Dublin Horse Show.

The large crowds who turned out for Ladies’ Day at the Dublin Horse Show were treated to a variety of events, dressage, horse and hounds, show jumping and pony riding.

RTÉ News spoke to Mrs Cockburn about the increase in the number of children competing in events  and the types of pony.

There are a great many ponies which most children will have a great deal of fun on going hunting in.  And this pony is inclined to be over well-bred, over hotted-up, over thoroughbred, which is perhaps a stupid way to put it, because a thoroughbred with good manners, there is nothing like it.

An RTÉ News report from 5 August 1965.
