Seven arrested as trouble breaks out at street traders demonstration on O’Connell Street, Dublin.

After Gardaí made two arrests for breaches of the Illegal Street Trading Act, other traders made their way to O’Connell Street and blocked off traffic in protest. Gardaí were brought in, the traders refused to move, and confrontation followed. Seven people were arrested.

According to Gardaí Henry Street and Mary Street are non-designated areas for casual trading. The maximum fine for a breach of the act is £200.
