COVID-19 Support for Events and Businesses
Event Businesses Disappointed with Covid Support Scheme
February 12, 2021
Many in the events sector, including organisers, suppliers, entertainers, and small businesses, have voiced their disappointment following the government’s latest COVID-19 support plan.
While supports are in place for certain industries, many feel the scheme overlooks the unique challenges faced by those in the events world, particularly those who have had little or no opportunity to trade since early 2020. For many, the funding announced doesn’t go far enough to ensure the survival of businesses that rely on festivals, fairs, concerts, and public gatherings.

The lack of tailored support for events has sparked frustration across the country, with calls for the government to re-evaluate the needs of this struggling sector. For small traders, entertainers, and behind-the-scenes crews, the uncertainty continues to take its toll.
