Beware of Fake Markets and Fairs Advertisements!
I wanted to take a moment to address an important issue that has come to our attention again and again.
It has come to our notice that there may be accounts out there attempting to advertise markets or fairs that are in fact, fake.
These unscrupulous individuals are preying on unsuspecting traders, attempting to solicit deposits for events that do not exist.
Just recently, we stumbled upon a post advertising a craft fair that raised some red flags. Upon further investigation, the creator’s profile appeared suspicious. There were numerous photos of a couple, all uploaded on the same day, with no additional content or engagement. This raised significant doubts about the legitimacy of the event being promoted.
Subsequently, we observed that a trader had shared the post on their page, stating that this was in fact a scam. This incident serves as a stark reminder to trust your instincts and exercise caution when encountering such advertisements.
Trust your Instincts
Therefore, we urge all of you to remain vigilant and skeptical of any market or fair advertisements that seem questionable. If you come across these please let us know and we will share on our socials. Make sure you are following along.
Here are a few tips to help you navigate through such situations:
Research Thoroughly:
Before committing to any event, conduct thorough research on the organisers and their reputation. Look for reviews or testimonials from previous participants.
Trust Your Gut:
If something feels off or too good to be true, it probably is. Listen to your instincts and proceed with caution.
Verify Information:
Don’t hesitate to reach out to the event venue directly to verify details such as dates, locations etc…. Check the venue has a booking on that day for that event.
Community Awareness:
Share any suspicious advertisements with us and we will share with the community to raise awareness and protect fellow traders from falling victim to scams.
