Following the hugely successful inaugural market last year, Ballinahown Development Association announced that it would once again hold a Christmas Market on December 21st to coincide with the winter solstice. The outdoor market will be held in the community carpark and due to the success of last year’s event trading hours have been extended for this year with the market running from 5pm until 8pm. Last year’s event saw stalls offer a wide range of handmade and artisan products, decorations, wreaths, clothing and accessories, beauty products as well as hot and cold food.

Athlone Christmas Market is back this December from 11am – 6pm in Athlone Civic Square and surrounding areas in the centre of the town. (beside Athlone town centre)

The weekend will see various food and craft stalls with a wide range of delicious food and unique crafts, handmade pieces of art using pebbles, handmade products from Waxy Wonders, Christmas garlands & candles, natural honey, scented candles, skincare cream by DeDanu, wood carvings, handmade jewellery and a wide range of products from the Irish Guide Dogs. There will also be an opportunity to get your Christmas puddings, mince pies, teas and coffees plus beautiful pizzas and crepes.

Organisers are expecting large numbers to visit the market in the town centre.

It’s a perfect opportunity for traders to sell to the local community and surrounding areas at the busiest time of the year in one of the busiest towns.
