Introducing Garnacha

Unlike the vinegar-heavy sauces many people know, Garnacha’s recipes are vegetable-based, layered with roasted chilies, nuts, seeds, and spices. Their Chipotle salsa, based on Andrea’s grandmother’s recipe, blends three different chilies for a deep, smoky flavour. Alongside it, the brand-new Mild salsa, created exclusively for ALDI, is tomato-rich with just a hint of heat.

Getting onto ALDI shelves marks a huge moment for the duo. “Nothing compares to the moment we walked into an ALDI and saw our jars on the shelf,” they told us. “It felt like all those months in Mexico and the hard work here in Ireland had come full circle.”

The trial is short — just two weeks from 11th to 25th September, but every jar really counts. If Garnacha sell through 80% of their stock, they’ll have the chance to stay in ALDI stores permanently.

Andrea and Andrew also had a word of encouragement for other small producers and traders: “Stay connected to your story and your product. Prepare well, know your numbers, and be ready to scale while keeping your quality intact. And most importantly, don’t give up. Every challenge is part of the journey, and resilience is what turns small steps into big milestones.”
