Our Visit to The Bannow & Rathangan Show

What an amazing day we had last Thursday at the Bannow & Rathangan Agricultural Show.

We were all set to finally meet up with Regina, the event co-ordinator unfortunately due to how understandable busy she was we were not able to catch up to her before we left, however we really did enjoy our experience at the annual Agricultural Show in the beautiful Killag, Co. Wexford.

We had never been to the show before and we were very excited and raring to go explore and chat to the traders.

The weather was beautiful, the place was full of happy shoppers and there was so much to see and do, an amazing selection of trade stands to browse, show jumping, competitions, a tractor parade, fun fair, lots of food trucks, a food tent & a craft tent, and even a bit of music & dancing! So don’t forget those dancing shoes when you visit.

The feedback from the traders was also very positive, the trade stand rates are very reasonable and Regina is a very lovely lady to deal with, so whether you are looking for a great place to trade or are looking for a great day out it is definitely worth checking out the Bannow & Rathangan Show.

What to expect at the Show

We started the day off in style on the back of a tractor that took us from the carpark to the entrance of the Show.

On entering the Show we first came across some gorgeous flower stalls, which we thought was a great idea to have at the entrance/exit, if you wanted to get some flowers it was very convenient that you could pick them up on the way out instead of carrying them around with you for the day.

There was lots of stalls and so much to see, some familiar faces and some new faces that we had not met before and we tried to chat with as many people as we could.

We stopped to admire and smell the gorgeous candles at “Home Glow Soy Candles” soy candles & wax melts handmade by the lovely Christine.

We can confirm they do smell even better than they look and they look pretty amazing, we loved the classic look and branding, very simple and elegant. Christine gave me some great advice on how to stop the wick making the candle go black “nip the top off the wick before relighting” and I picked up the vanilla & salted caramel candle and will definitely be back for more.

The smell of lavender was in the air as we turned the corner and passed “Purple Cloud Natural Lavender Oil” who we chatted with in June when we were at “Bloom”, lovely family business with absolutely amazing 100% organic lavender & honey products.

We loved “Pimp my Pooch” they had all kinds of accessories for your furry friend, we loved the little cowboy hat’s, just what your dog needs to join in with the dancing that was going on at the Show.

Strolling on we spotted “Happy Daisy” so cool and colourful, we had to stop for a look and a photo. Beautiful handmade silk scarves, accessories, frames and gifts.

In the Craft tent there was so many amazing handmade crafts. We really loved the tie dye clothes at “Electric Avnu” the colours where so good, and we loved the brand name too, super cool.

There where some really talented artists, So in love with “Emilys Personalised Art” gorgeous watercolour artwork of some super cute animals, I still have my eye on that Llama but it really is hard to choose a favourite.

“Siorghlas Glass Art” was another lovely handcrafted trader there, we loved “Tom” just as much as the beautiful fused glass art that he was selling and he kindly posed for a lovely photo for us, thank you Tom, it was lovely to meet you.

Lovely artwork from “Natures Dowry” made using locally sourced seaweed, driftwood, stones and shells from the beach, really lovely art pieces.

There was one very special artist there that just blew us away, the amazing “Emma” just 13 years old and what a talent she has. Her fun and colourful artwork put a smile on my face and I know any child (or adult) would love to have one of her pieces of art on their wall. What a great little star of the future, it was great to see such a young girl starting her own little enterprise, and with such supportive and proud parents behind her she is sure to do well, keep doing those paintings Emma, you are a little star!

We loved our day at the “Bannow & Rathangan Agricultural Show”, thank you to Regina and all the staff, we hope to visit again!
