Urgent Notice: Important Information Regarding "ToothFaerie" Toothpaste Products

We are reaching out to bring your attention to a crucial matter that concerns the safety of cosmetic products, specifically the “ToothFaerie” toothpaste range.

The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA), Ireland’s competent authority for cosmetic products, recently issued a recall for the “ToothFaerie” toothpaste range. The products were found to be non-compliant with the European regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 and were considered unsafe. The recall, initiated in February 2023, is still in effect as the manufacturer has not addressed the identified non-compliances.

You can find detailed information about the recall on the HPRA’s website: Product Recall – ToothFaerie Toothpaste Range

The HPRA has brought to our attention that these products may have been available at recent festivals and craft fairs. We kindly request your assistance in disseminating this crucial information to event organisers within your network. The “ToothFaerie” toothpaste range may pose serious health risks, including the potential for infection and harm to fertility or the unborn child.

If any event organisers are aware that these products were recently for sale at their event, please encourage them to contact the HPRA at cosmetics@hpra.ie. Additionally, if consumers have purchased these products, the HPRA advises them to stop using them immediately and consult with their GP if they have any medical concerns.

We also take this opportunity to remind all organisers of events, including markets, festivals, and craft fairs, to ensure that stalls selling cosmetic products comply with the EU Cosmetics Regulation. This regulation applies to all cosmetic products, including those that are homemade or handmade. Compliance with these regulations is essential to protect consumers.

For further information and guidance, please refer to the HPRA website and we strongly recommend that organisers confirm the compliance of cosmetic products with any future exhibitors or stallholders.

Your cooperation in disseminating this information is crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of consumers. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the HPRA directly.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Stay Safe.
